Signature Surgical Arts and Med Spa offers rhinoplasty for the residents of greater Grand Rapids and Holland, Jenison or Grand Haven, Michigan and the surrounding communities.
In addition to facelifts and breast enhancement, nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is one of the most requested facial surgery procedures at Signature Surgical Arts and Med Spa. Whether you have a distracting bump, deviated septum, or other nose-related cosmetic issues, rhinoplasty may help you achieve your cosmetic goals and feel better about your appearance.
What is Rhinoplasty?
One of the most common and best-known types of plastic surgery is rhinoplasty, often referred to as nose surgery or a nose job. Rhinoplasty is done both to correct breathing problems and to improve the appearance of the nose in proportion to the face. It has lived up to its popular reputation, enhancing the looks and self-esteem of thousands of men and women in Grand Rapids.
“Rhinoplasty” describes a variety of specific surgical procedures that aim to improve the size, shape, and function of your nose. Dr. Stubbs may need to remove or reshape bone and cartilage or correct the air passages during your procedure. Because the procedural steps depend on the individual patient’s needs, Dr. Stubbs prefers to describe the actual procedure during a consultation appointment.
There are two main methods of rhinoplasty: open and closed. With a closed procedure, an incision is made inside the nose, while an open procedure requires an incision across the narrow strip of tissue between the nostrils. Once Dr. Stubbs makes the incision, he will lift the soft tissue and trim and sculpt the cartilage to reshape the nose. New contours may be constructed from cartilage grafts taken from other areas of the body and excess skin removed. The skin and tissue is then re-draped over the new shape, and the incisions are closed.
Candidates for Rhinoplasty
Good candidates for rhinoplasty are individuals who are at least 13 years old, with facial growth completed. Problems addressed include nose size in proportion to the face, nose width and profile, large or overly-wide nostrils, adjustment of humps or bridge depressions, a bulbous or misshapen tip, and nasal deviation.
Rhinoplasty requires the use of general anesthesia, so you should be in good physical health and a non-smoker. If you would like to know more about rhinoplasty or find out if the procedure is appropriate for you, call our office at616-396-1433 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Stubbs.
