Botox

Signature Surgical Arts and Med Spa offers Botox® for the residents of greater Grand Rapids and Holland, Grandville, or Grand Haven, Michigan and the surrounding communities.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a temporary injectable that reduces the lines and wrinkles around your eyes as well as on your forehead. The results are immediate and typically last three to four months. Unlike most wrinkles and creases that are caused by a decrease in fat and collagen deposits, the lines between the eyes are created by muscle activity. Botox® works by blocking nerve impulses to these muscles, thereby decreasing the appearance of lines. Botox® treatments are also used to help patients with severe underarm perspiration, uncontrollable blinking caused by blepharospasms, severe neck and shoulder contractions related to cervical dystonia and misaligned eyes caused by strabismus. Botox® treatments are non-permanent and last up to four months. Botox® is recommended for patients who are 18 to 65 years old.

Botox® Procedure

The wrinkles around your eyes and on your forehead are caused by the contraction of certain facial muscles. Botox® is specially designed to safely and temporarily paralyze these muscles. Injections are made with a very fine needle into the appropriate muscles. The number and location of the injections depend on the type of correction that is needed.

Candidates for Botox®

Botox® is generally recommended for patients who are 18 to 65 years of age and want to reduce the signs of aging without downtime. If you would like to know if Botox® is right for you, schedule a consultation appointment by calling our office at 616-396-1433.

Benefits of Botox®

Botox® is an effective treatment for moderate to severe lines and wrinkles between your eyes, at the corners of your eyes (crow’s feet), and on your forehead. In some cases, Botox® treatments help prevent lines and wrinkles from developing into deeper creases.

When can normal activities be resumed after the Botox® procedure? Botox® treatments do not require patients to have downtime or restrict their activities. Patients who receive Botox® can resume normal activities immediately after the treatment.
