Dr. Jason Stubbs and his team at Signature Surgical Arts and Med Spa offer bioCorneum® for scar treatment to the residents of greater Grand Rapids and Holland, Jenison or Grand Haven, Michigan who are searching for a way to reduce the appearance of unwanted scars.
What is bioCorneum®?
bioCorneum® is a transparent, self-drying silicone gel that is proven to improve the appearance of scars and prevent abnormal or excessive scar formation. bioCorneum® flattens raised scars, relieves itching and reduces redness of both old and new scars. The only FDA-approved treatment of its kind, bioCorneum® also contains SPF providing UVA/UVB protection, which keeps the skin from suffering damage caused by the sun during the healing process.
Benefits of bioCorneum®
If you are an active person that enjoys swimming and sunbathing but feels hindered by a post-surgical scar, then bioCorneum® for scar treatment is right for you. As the only 100 percent silicone scar treatment with SPF 30 UV protection, your days of sporting a bathing suit are not over. Other benefits include:
- The silicone gel is waterproof and is ideal for the face, neck, hands, chest and any other area exposed to the sun
- Once the gel has dried, you may apply cosmetics
- bioCorneum® forms a thin silicone flexible sheet that is perfect to be used on flexures, joints, and irregular surfaces
- bioCorneum® flattens raised scars, reduces redness and discoloration and relieves associated discomfort
How Do I Use bioCorneum®?
Perhaps the best benefit of using bioCorneum® is that there is no procedure; you can diminish the appearance of scars by simply applying the gel to the affected area. You can start applying after your stitches have been removed. It is recommended to spread a thin layer of bioCorneum® on the affected area twice per day. You should see some results within the first two months of use. For the best results, the recommended minimum treatment time for new scars is 60 to 90 days and a full 90 days for older scars.
Preparing for bioCorneum®
There is no preparation to use bioCorneum®. Under physician supervision, patients may start applying it to the affected area after their stitches have been removed. Your physician will demonstrate the proper way to apply the gel.
How Much Does bioCorneum® Cost in Greater Grand Rapids?
The cost of bioCorneum® varies depending on the size of your scar. Your doctor can prescribe the proper amount to purchase after examining the length and width of your scar.
Is bioCorneum® Right for Me?
If you are searching for a way to get rid of an old or new scar without having to undergo a laser procedure, then bioCorneum® may be the best option for you. You can quickly apply a small amount to the affected area, wait a couple of minutes and then go on with your day as normal.
What to Expect During Your bioCorneum® Consultation
Your physician will prescribe the right size bottle of gel to use based on the size of your scar. The physician will show you the proper way to apply the gel and will discuss how long you need to use it for the best results. You will also be made aware of the cost of bioCorneum® during your consultation.
